74%If there's one thing we're proud of at the Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort… no, hang on, we're proud of more things than that.
Starting with our location. Overlooking the Campsie Hills in Lanarkshire, Scotland, the views and scenery are… impossible to do justice to in words; they have to be gazed at, glass of wine in hand, to be believed.
Then there's the hotel itself. We've just completed a £14 million refurbishment, taking us from pretty good to downright exceptional. The bedrooms brim with wonderfulness, from subtle décor to flat screen LCD TVs, WiFi, complimentary refreshments and walk-in power showers in the gorgeous bathrooms.
The spa is a relaxation sensation and guests always have lots of good things to say about our treatments, once we've woken them up. And the state-of-the-art leisure club is well-equipped for dynamic workouts or half hearted attempts just to say you've been.
The grounds are pretty special too, and we don't just mean the championship golf course designed by Seve Ballesteros, that's so challenging we only get a single hole in one a year. Around 142 AD, the Romans settled here and built the Antonine Wall. This World Heritage site was once home to a fort guarded by gladiators, who have now been replaced by our team of 7 greenkeepers, who regularly battle it out with the weeds.
The things we're most proud of, however, are our staff, quirks and all. With good reason. This cheerful bunch have a motto of 'Happy, Integrity, Passion, Pride, One team', which makes them one big HIPPO. Three of them have been looking after guests here for nearly 50 years. Two of them are members of royalty. Five of them walked over hot coals for a spina bifida charity. One of them sings opera in the cellar. Their passion and dedication is only surpassed by their friendliness.
It's down to them that our restaurants are so fabulous too, with exquisite menus including good old Scots delicacies, hearty favourites and gourmet surprises.
